The strategy for Cronos moving forward

This page sets out the strategy Cronos Labs is taking forward and the tokenomics changes it proposes. It covers what changes and what CRO holders vote on.

  • 100% of Ult and Cronos Launch revenue buys CRO
  • 100+ countries at launch
  • 24/7/365 stock, predictions, and crypto markets

The Ultimate Trading App

What started this year as Onchain Wallet, a self-custodial wallet from Crypto.com. We called the app Cronos while we built it. At launch it becomes Ult. At launch Ult supports sports predictions and a subset of Cronos Network tokens and perps markets. Over the next few weeks it adds far more to trade across predictions, perps, tokenized stocks and crypto. Ult launches in over 100 countries; available markets vary by jurisdiction.

Ult is short for Ultimate, unlocking your most powerful ability. With Ult, our goal is to give you the most powerful ability to trade: anything you want, whenever you want, wherever you want. So why rename the app? To better capture the breadth it covers: it supports Cronos Network alongside other major global venues, so a trader can reach what they want to trade without leaving the app.

Only the app is renamed.

The chain is still Cronos Network, CRO is still the network token, and every proposal on this page routes revenue to CRO.

Cronos Launch, live Sept 15

Cronos Labs' own launchpad. It has no token. Anyone can create one on it, the token trades on a bonding curve, and every buy and sell pays a fee. 100% of that fee buys CRO and burns it.

Later, tokens that graduate from Cronos Launch will automatically get listed on Ult.

From any launchpad on Cronos Network to a Crypto.com listing review

A token that graduates on any launchpad on Cronos Network can be submitted to be listed on Crypto.com. Identical terms at every venue. Existing tokens qualify as they are, with no relaunch.

Review criteria is identical for every venue.

Existing launchpad tokens qualify as they are, with no relaunch required.

Clearing the bar gets a token into Crypto.com's ongoing review. It is a review, not a listing. Crypto.com owns the criteria, the cadence and the rejections, and Cronos Labs does not speak for that process. Apply at crypto.com/en/listing.

Five steps rising to a dotted line: a token launches, graduates past the line, is submitted, is reviewed, and the last step is Crypto.com's, hatched, with the token inside a dashed ring and no outcome drawn.

Ult and Cronos Launch allocate 100% of revenue to buying and burning CRO

That is the mandate of Cronos Labs. 100% of revenue from Ult and Cronos Launch buys CRO on the open market and burns it. Operations and related costs come from existing capital instead of from Ult or Cronos Launch revenue.

  • Cronos Labs apps
  • Ecosystem apps
Revenue from Cronos Labs' apps buys CRO on the open market and burns it. Ecosystem apps reach the network directly.

Bringing flow back to Cronos Network

All cash balances on Ult settle to Cronos Network. At launch Cronos Network is the primary spot venue, while perps and predictions settle on venues elsewhere. Every trade earns revenue that buys and burns CRO wherever it settles.

Today the depth for perps sits on external venues, so that is where Ult routes. As Ult grows, the flow arriving at those venues is flow Ult brought, and the economics invert: once Ult's own order flow is enough to support a market, the better return is to run that market on Cronos Network and keep the liquidity, the fees and the settlement here.

  1. Users

Breadth brings traders into Ult. Every trade's revenue buys and burns CRO from day one.

  2. Assets

Assets issued natively on Cronos Network trade here by definition: tokens that graduate on a launchpad here, tokenized equities, and the products Cronos Labs builds natively.

  3. Venues

Each asset issued here brings its order flow with it, and each market Ult can support on its own flow moves onto Cronos Network when the return justifies it.

Everything Cronos Labs builds works for CRO

Cronos Labs builds Ult, and supports the ongoing development of Cronos Launch and VVS Finance. The revenue rule above covers Ult and Cronos Launch.

All other Cronos Labs projects will be sunset over the coming months. Look to each project directly for its own communications.

VVS Finance

Leading DEX on Cronos Network. Has its own token.

VVS is where Ult's spot orders route today, not an exclusive. More venues are on the roadmap.

This is where 100% of Cronos Labs’ development goes from here. That focus is what lets Cronos Labs drive revenue to CRO and support the developers building on Cronos Network. Ult and Cronos Launch revenue buys CRO and burns it.

Cronos Labs is here to support the developers building on Cronos Network

The infrastructure, tools and services builders need, in place and paid for, listed at cronos.com/network.

What Cronos Labs does for builders

  1. Maintain and improve Cronos Network

The chain itself: an EVM-compatible network anyone can deploy on with Solidity, Foundry and Hardhat.

  2. Fund the infrastructure builders rely on

A native stablecoin, plus the node, data and routing services on the cronos.com/network directory.

  3. Bring the flow back to Cronos Network

Cronos Labs' first focus is the breadth of assets in Ult. As the user base grows, Cronos Labs brings that flow back to Cronos Network.

What builders get: familiar EVM tooling, a 24/7 settlement network with key integrations like a direct on/offramp with Crypto.com and Native USDC, and distribution as Ult grows (as an example, through token listing and via routing when execution quality improvements ship.)

Native USDC on Cronos Network

Cash balances on Ult are Circle's native USDC on Cronos Network. Native USDC moves between chains on Circle's own rails, which is what lets a deposit reach a perps position without the conversion tax a non-native stablecoin pays. Every funded account holds a Cronos Network asset before it places a trade.

Sports predictions

Tap a game, pick an outcome, type a dollar amount and see exactly what it wins. Winnings arrive on their own when the game ends. It is a market people who have never traded crypto already understand, so it brings in users who did not come for a token, and every match is a reason to open the app on a day crypto is not moving.

Crypto checkout

Buy a token with a card in one step. If your cash balance covers the buy the trade routes as normal; if it does not, checkout fills the gap and the token lands in your account. It starts with Robinhood Chain memecoins and extends to Solana and Cronos Network from there. A small first buy is how a trader tests an app, and this takes deposit, wait and trade down to one screen.

DrivesDeposits/withdrawalsNext

Deposit from your exchange

Link the account you already hold on Coinbase, Binance or Crypto.com and move funds in. The money a retail trader already has sits mostly on an exchange, and this is the shortest path from there to the trade.

Desktop terminal

Perps, predictions, sports and portfolio on a screen built for size, plus market pages that work signed out, so a market can be linked from a group chat or found from a search with live prices before an account exists. The traders who carry the most notional do not manage size on a phone, and the venues they could leave for are desktop first.

DrivesTVPUNext

More Cronos Network tokens

The bar a Cronos Network token clears to be tradable in Ult moves from a hand-picked list to a rule: a live price feed and real liquidity in its pool. Tokens that graduate from a launchpad on Cronos Network get added on their own. More of what Cronos holders already own becomes tradable without the project doing anything.

DrivesCronos NetworkNext

More perps markets

Perps markets sync from the venue daily instead of being added by hand, so the breadth grows well past what ships at launch. A trader who cannot find the market they want leaves for the app that has it, so the long tail of perps holds traders as much as it wins them.

DrivesInventory breadthNext

More prediction markets

The same two-tap trade applied to an election, a rate decision, a token launch or an awards show, in a Predictions tab beside Sports. It widens who the app is for, and these markets move on their own calendar rather than crypto's, so there is something to trade every week.

DrivesInventory breadthNext

Robinhood Chain

Tokens on Robinhood Chain, starting with the memecoins that drive most of its volume, traded from the same balance as everything else. A buy is a swap from your USDC into the token and a sell is the reverse, so nothing is left sitting on another chain. Traders chasing that activity today leave the app for it and take on unverified contracts to do so; this keeps them in Ult, and the fee on that flow buys CRO like any other.

after that

Best-price routing across venues

Every spot order asks more than one venue for a price and fills at the best one, with more Cronos Network, perps and predictions venues. No order is tied to a single venue, and each venue added tightens pricing and depth across the breadth of inventory supported on Ult.

DrivesTVPULater

Cross-chain withdrawal

Withdraw your cash balance to networks beyond Cronos Network, arriving as USDC on the chain you pick. Universal Deposit brings money in from every major chain; this is the same path in reverse, so a balance is never stranded where it happened to land.

DrivesDeposits/withdrawalsLater

Direct CRO deposits

Send CRO from any wallet or exchange to your Ult address and it lands as CRO in your spot balance, with no conversion on the way in.

DrivesCronos NetworkLater

Fee-free first trade

A new user's first deposit and trade cost nothing: the onramp fee is rebated and Ult's own fee on that first trade is waived. Ult already charges nothing on crypto deposits and withdrawals; this covers the card or bank buy most new users start with.

DrivesDeposits/withdrawalsLater

Fiat offramp

Withdraw your cash balance to a bank account or card in your own currency, without moving it through another app first. A trader sizes their deposit against how easily they can get money back out, so the exit is part of what brings the money in.

DrivesDeposits/withdrawalsLater

Following and share cards

Follow the traders whose calls you want in front of you, with those follows feeding what the app surfaces next. Posting an open position as a card, PnL front and center, comes with it. More to watch is more reason to have a position on, and the traders who watch closest are the ones carrying size.

DrivesTVPULater

Headless onramp

Buying with fiat finishes inside Ult instead of handing off to a provider's web checkout. Every handoff is a place a user drops, and a user who drops at the on-ramp never trades.

DrivesDeposits/withdrawalsLater

Leaderboards

Ranked by realized results over a day, a week or all time. Putting results in public gives the most active traders something to compete for, and that is the cohort already carrying most of the volume.

DrivesTVPULater

Referrals

Earn CRO when a friend you bring in funds an account, makes a first trade and stays.

DrivesDeposits/withdrawalsLater

Solana

Solana majors and memecoins in the same app and the same balance, with no separate wallet, no SOL for gas and no chain to pick. A buy is a swap from your USDC into the token, delivered in seconds. Traders who hold Solana assets keep a second app to trade them, this removes the reason, and the fee on that flow buys CRO like any other.

DrivesInventory breadthLater

Stock tokens

Tokenized US stocks and ETFs next to crypto in one account and one balance, tradable around the clock. As issuers tokenize stocks natively on Cronos Network, Ult lists them and that flow settles on Cronos Network.
